@SideQuestVR Hey, F-droid, another alternative app store for Android (not dedicated to XR) provides directly .apk link on each app page. Does SideQuest also does that, if so how, if not why not?

Relying on https://video.benetou.fr/w/k7tKQ8Qer7hUpvEQFKGpfT to send DRM free ePub converted to PDF, cropped by simply drag&drop (on desktop) the source ePub on a dedicated directory to transfer to the reMarkable.
I could do it before but it was sth I’d have to think about, now just drop the file &voila.

🤮 the grift…
What’s truly disturbing is that, just like OpenAI few years ago, it claims to be about the good of Humanity. When OpenAI had an actual purpose, wasn’t a for-profit, was genuinely (arguably) about safety.
This is about privacy, or is it? Did we learn anything?🤨 https://x.com/jasonjoyride/status/1855294284569743486

They then benchmark to what they started with, OpenAI, and realize it’s relatively not that bad.
Finally they realize what they had without LLM wasn’t that bad either…

What I meant is that prior to considering alternatives, companies and institutions were going from nothing (barely retrieval, NLP, etc) to “intelligence” so it was perceived a huge jump.
In reality it wasn’t so precisely because they already did have some systems in place, …

The promise is the product.
Skimming through https://lemmy.world/comment/13133443 makes me think that OpenAI isn’t selling quality results but something else.🤷♂️
As soon as companies start to consider alternatives (Claude, Ollama etc), the question of quality comes up and… it’s not great.

I don’t like YouTube (Google and all, monopoly + surveillance capitalism) and videos are really under using a medium where we can literally grab (virtual) 3D objects… but I have to admit at least it seems to work spatially, so that’s nice.

Curved yet so flat🤷♂️. It’s cool… but what’s the point when you could have that, sure, but also 360 content (if you really need, carve out virtual “windows” on path and actual window) AND depth?
It’s powerful, sure, and convenient, sure, but it’s STILL underusing the medium! https://x.com/spatiallyme/status/1854530624641474670

Indeed, point of some of those explorations, based on https://git.benetou.fr/utopiah/offline-octopus/ and not necessarily “just” for XR, yet I feel the need is more prescient there as files tend to be “omitted” for “apps” or “content” (e.g. games) that aren’t really composable.
