Yep there was a post like that about https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50571010 5 years ago already including a link to the Moscow ministry of agriculture website with their release, so quite “official” looking.
Yet… until I’ve seen the research I’m skeptical. In principle though… why not?🤷♂️

Also I expect answers to “look right” despite not being actually correct in a lot of cases, especially edge.
So again, I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would use this rather than the countless libraries in countless programming languages already solving those problems🤷♂️

As somebody who is daily whining about LLMs and BS in AI… I actually do. Not because it’s “impressive” though but because I expect most of the “hardest engineer problems” to be present in training data … and thus rather pointless.

IMHO it would also be great porting to XR, e.g. https://x.com/utopiah/status/1789228035771703626 as one could manipulate parts of the systems with hands (or pen and controllers) in their environment or a simulated one, not just on a screen.
Smart to start with physics rather than something generic.

To clarify, I think AI research is interesting and even important. The commercialization of LLMs at a loss to monopolize the market though is NOT the same. It’s very different from progress especially for a lot of uses cases… i.e. spam & scam.

I only saw videos of controller with pen, but is it possible to get hand tracking AND pen? I’m thinking left hand to move objects around and right hand to draw (or the other way around) but briefly tried and it didn’t work. Didn’t seem to work in the OS either .

FWIW when I do this I wrap the executing statement in a try catch block, e.g. https://git.benetou.fr/utopiah/text-code-xr-engine/src/branch/xr-to-2D-board/jxr-core.js#L469 .
It’s safer… but it’s also limited, e.g. you can’t swap the game engine itself. I had in mind JS Realms for that https://x.com/utopiah/status/1804918544280269221 but I didn’t explore more there.
